Some seasons arrive with celebration attached to them. Summer promises adventure. Fall brings fresh starts. Winter carries holidays and traditions. Spring whispers of renewal. But seasons do not always feel the way they are advertised. Winter can feel isolating. Spring can bring unexpected restlessness. Summer can become exhausting. Fall can awaken anxiety about everything that still needs to be accomplished before the year ends. Sometimes the world around us is changing faster than our souls can keep up. And sometimes nothing dramatic has happened at all. We simply feel heavy. Not necessarily in crisis, just tired in a way sleep does not immediately solve. We may feel less motivated, more distracted, emotionally thin, or spiritually quiet. Even familiar responsibilities can begin to require more energy. Prayer feels harder. Decisions feel heavier.
